Amy Bravo
Amy Bravo is a Cuban/Italian American artist living in New York City. A central part of Bravo's work revolves around the reconstruction of memory and heritage, as a way of (de)constructing herself. Challenged with the complications of Cuban politics, in her large-scale paintings Bravo goes to (re)create a Cuba that is only in her head, and not for that less truthful, less real. Mixing references such as Mexican kitsch, Cuban literature and the Cuba of her imagination, Bravo composes a unique universe, marked by a constant search on how identity and affections are articulated.
